Sunday dawned bright and cheery, but I didn’t. I was sleepy. However, I got myself ready for church. The first Sunday of the month is communion Sunday here. The majority of the women dress up in their traditional church attire on this Sunday, meaning they have long LCCA chitenjes on with white blouses and purple cloth tied around their hair. The choir ended up singing about 10 songs, in addition to the 4 from the youth choir, along with communion, an almost hour long sermon, and a presentation of a gift from the ladies’ group to the guest chairman/pastor of the LCCA. Yes, the service was three hours long, but it was enjoyable. J Reminded me of the church we went to a few times in New Jersey. Same thing.
After church, I ate my grilled cheese while prepping for Monday. D&D kindly took us to the pool at AIS in the middle of the afternoon to practice the swimming portion of the triathlon again. I’m leaning towards doing it. Hopefully I can! We visited Mrs. SB who was working in her classroom. (It’s so big with so many fun things going on in it; I’m jealous!) Mr. D stopped and got us some ice cream (my favorite food group J) before heading home. Once we got home, T and I had the privilege of tracking down all our kids again, since some of them have exams this week, too. Hopefully they’ll all come this week at the correct times! We were waiting for choir practice to finish to talk to one of the girls; afterwards, we found out they were all waiting for us! Someone had mentioned to T in the greeting line today that she should join the choir, in passing, mind you. Apparently, that was a formal invitation for us to come because they were expecting us at practice! Oops! So, I think T and I just signed up for joining choir for two weeks after Malawi and myself for playing piano for the services…..Chabwino! (Alright!) We’ll just go with it!
While T was on a walk, I took my computer outside to plan for the Sunday school we are running during Easter retreat to enjoy the fresh air. Well, if I was planning on being productive, that was a mistake. Within (no lie) three seconds of sitting on the grass, I was joined by 2 kids. At the end of the half hour, there were about 8 of them there! I showed them pictures of my family and friends that I have on my comp. J So, many of you readers are now famous in Zambia, fyi!
T and I ate some dinner, spent awhile planning for a) teaching this week, b) Sunday school over Easter retreat, and c) our next inservice which is on Saturday. Then it was high time for a break physically, but not mentally, because we ended up watching Inception (I totally geeked out because in one scene near the beginning they are in Africa, presumably, and I totally heard someone yell Mzungu to Leo!) and headed to bed. Good night world!
