April 4 "Kickball!"

It was tough getting out of bed today. But thinking of the children always motivates me to get out of bed. J A quick run and getting ready by 8 to meet one of my students. She wasn’t here last week, and since the schedule is all whacked up with exam weeks, we had a one-on-one and caught her up. Then T and I caused a scene because we had to carry over the white board from the Press to the church for class. It sure looked funny seeing us cart everything across campus! ESL went well; all the ladies made it. J I’m so glad when that happens because I wonder if they think we’re doing too much with class every day. But of course they’d come today; we announced the winners from last week’s market extravaganza! J

Lunchtime was for eating, picking our topics for Saturday’s training number two, going through possible songs for Easter retreat, meeting D&L to finalize some things for next week’s schedule, and finalizing preschool, which ended up going pretty well today. Our new tactic worked for ¾ of the time. J They still have problems with taking turns and things like that when we tried to play kickball, but hopefully our limited time with them will rub off and they’ll have some manners before we leave! Haha!

After preschool I went for a bike ride, followed by a kickball game with the campus and church kids. Normally Mr. D&D runs the games on Wednesdays, but since the kids are almost on “summer vacation” he’s adding Monday games, too. So T and I joined and had some fun. J Us mzungus were so popular, especially since we don’t normally come to kickball; I didn’t think we’d ever get out of there alive—I had so many kids hanging off me! But it sure was fun!

Some planning and meeting a new friend on campus before dinner. Dinner was yummy. J After dinner, T and I took a walk around campus because she said I was a bit loopy and needed to release some excess energy. Had a few awkward run ins with a few people we needed to meet up with and then ran back into campus because the rainy season was back! Thunder and lightning everywhere. And I was really jumpy. Ask T. I jumped about four times through the course of the night when she walked in by me. The worst one was when I was standing out in the rain and she came outside. I jumped like a foot in the air! ahahaha. After those antics we did some more planning for tomorrow and teacher training and called it quits at 8:30. I was so unmotivated to work. T had to convince me to lesson plan for those 45 minutes. But I finished in time and we watched Enchanted. Cute movie. And went to bed. I was very sleepy.
